Crime Blotter: Man Punched in the Face at Starbucks
The following incidents were reported to the Crescenta Valley (CV) Sheriff's Station. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Sucker Punched
A man was working on his laptop at the Starbucks at 1929 Verdugo in La Cañada on June 3 when an unknown person walked up to him, asked him “Is that your Silver Mercedes?” When the man answered “Yes,” the person hit him on the right side of his face. The man, who was sitting in a chair at the time, fell backward. Before the chair could hit the ground, the person began to shake him back and forth and told the suspect “Whoever you are mad at, I’m not him.” Then the person let go of him, and ran out. The man ran to his car to follow the suspect but, when the other person realized that he was being followed, he took off his shirt to cover his car’s license plate. The person drove off, leaving the man with a bloody nose and dried blood on his lip.

On May 31, a La Cañada male reported a grand theft at the 600 block of Durwood Drive. He told the police that someone had stolen precious coins and metals from a plastic box that had been placed on the upper most shelf of his master bedroom closet. His home had not been burglarized nor had there been any strangers in house. The coins and precious metals amounted to a total of $14,180.

A La Cañada male told the police about a burglary at the 100 block of Olive Lane on June 1. He had left for work and, later on that day, his son called him to say that he returned home to find the front door of the house open. The man immediately returned home and saw that three laptops as well as an Xbox consul and headset were missing; the electronics were valued at $3,700.
Gaming Consuls, Laptops, Purse Poached
On June 5, a La Cañada male contacted police regarding a burglary at the 270 block of Starlight. He had returned home from school, when he noticed that the garage door was open. Upon entering the house, the male saw that the living room was ransacked and noticed that the gaming consuls in the entertainment room were missing. He checked the entire house, noticing that two laptops and a Steve Madden purse were also taken. The robber(s) entered the home through a bathroom window and exited through the garage door, taking items that were valued at a total of $3,720.
