The traffic that is caused by The Learning Castle and La Canada Prep by their pick up and drop off…Read More process is a nightmare. They go as far as to serve starbucks in the morning to waiting parents in the carline while they tie up traffic down both sides of the street.

1. The speed that people drive on neighborhood streets. We live on a route used for LCES and the…Read More cars travel to and from the school at rediculous speeds and turn the corners on the opposite sides of the street. There are kids walking to and from school and the majority of these parents are traveling to fast to stop for a child and they are on their cell phones as well.

The dangerous gangs are the old farts (aka MAMILs - middle aged men in lycra). The young people are…Read More most often the mountain bike teams from La Crescenta high and St. Francis. They are supervised by a coach and ride fairly conscientiously.

Thanks for the helpful website. That's by the Santa Clara divide road, a short way east of Newcomb's…Read More Ranch.

From what I gleaned from the lieutenant, the chemicals were pretty toxic, so they needed to make…Read More sure no one was out in about in that area until it was cleaned. I hear you on the mile markers. Does this help at all? http://tchester.org/sgm/places/sr2_log.html
Nature lover April 24, 2013 at 04:10 pm
I wish there was a way of knowing where these mile markers are. I just don't look for them when I'm…Read More negotiating that winding road. In future reports, could you give a landmark nearby? For instance, was it near Switzer's? or near Red Box? Or on the steep it from la Canada up to George's Gap? I'm puzzled as to why a local incident has to lead to such a large road closure.

Everyone was reporting that yesterday, and only today did officials say unequivocally that…Read More additional devices were not found. I'll go back in and update the story. Thank you for your comment.
RT April 16, 2013 at 06:35 pm
I keep seeing conflicting information. NPR just said that no other explosive devices were found.…Read More Yesterday I heard what Patch is saying in this article that other devices were found and detonated. I hope the former is correct and updated because I have friends in the Boston area that are REALLY SCARED. I've seen plenty of people on tv and radio presenting a stiff upper lip and that they will not be intimidated but let me tell you, there are still plenty of people frightened in and around the Boston area.

Just found Aaron on facebook as well (I don't know him personally), but he and his family are okay.

It never ceases to amaze me how a person who obviously is not ignorant uses their skills to defraud…Read More others and take the risk of ending up in jail. If they had only used their time and energy to do something good and worthwhile AND LEGAL, they could be secure and safe and have earned the respect of the community. It's like the drug cartel kingpins, yeah, I get it, it's all for the money, but they are using the same organizational tools as CEOs of big corporations (albeit without the murder and mayhem) and they could be doing quite well without the worry of someone trying to kill you or put you in jail. Why not grow coffee beans instead of cocaine? It is probably more lucrative since more people drink coffee than snort cocaine. Oh we'll, I am just thinking out loud here...

Michael Winter is my brother and this is not the first time he has saved an infant. Mike in 2009…Read More also won the Medal of Valor for single handedly rescuing 3 victims who went 600 feet off the cliff on Angeles Crest Hwy. Michael like many other Deputies in the department give they're heart and soul to they're job and to protecting us the citizens. I am so very proud of you and thank the L.A.S.D. for the selfless commitment.
Ms. Kathleen Winter.

What is Adam Schiff thinking?
Are we going to idly stand by while a cell of deadly Chechen…Read More terrorists destroys our nation? Did we learn anything from 9/11? ... from our time in Iraq and Afghanistan? Terrorist cells must be immediately and completely obliterated -- they are an aggressive cancer that destroys a nation.
Apparently Adam Schiff despises those who died when the towers fell in New York and those who died on the battlefield in Iraq and Afghanistan, and all those who will die in the future here in our country at the hands of terrorists.
We will remember Adam Schiff's stand at the next election!

Is the take-home point here that he doesn't trust the administration or the Justice Department to do…Read More the appropriate thing with them? Because I don't.
Donna Roberts April 22, 2013 at 11:23 am
Thank you, Rep. Schiff, for attempting to bring some sanity back to this country whose leaders have…Read More gotten them brainwashed over what terror really is and how to treat criminals.

It wasn't too smart to reveal the bomb was an ordinary pressure cooker packed with nails and ball…Read More bearings and filled with ordinary black powder. Now, it's visually on record what such an ordinary, off the shelf item can do.

At LAUSD I heard we have 1 counselor per 1000 students and more police than LAPD. SOunds incredible…Read More but if true, needs to change. Students more than ever need the support that only a trained counselor can provide. Unfortunately, happy students can't be scored so it's unlikely the importance of mental health will ever exceed that of making the "grade".

People remain anonymous for fear of reprisal, a real world concern. Cyber-stalking is prevalent.…Read More Spokeo can certainly burn you. If a name is posted, it doesn't necessarily mean it’s a real name. Who's verifying this, running down IP addresses, doing background checks? Editors are not LE officers. I find the "canned" response to anonymity to be dangerously uninformed-- especially in the Age of Identity Theft, Hacking, and Stalking. People discriminate against others based upon gender, race, ethnicity, physical attributes, economic status, religious beliefs, marital status, sexual preferences, educational and employment background, and opinions. A person's employment/financial stability can be adversely affected by "stating an opinion" contrary to a person in "power," or one with a personal vendetta. Disclosing a medical condition-- AIDS, depression or addiction-- can and is used against people. Run-of-the-mill "backstabbing" is common. Why give people an open path? There are many reasons why people are reluctant to use their name. People who represent the interests of government, in the arts/media, social network, or run businesses may want to-- or have to-- have their name out in the "Internet World,” while others may simply elect not to. Opinions & insights can still be valuable without revealing identity on an open portal such as the Internet. "Unnamed sources said ...” "Sources requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to...." The media uses it often.

The Keystone Cops from Glendale can't find a man on foot. The helicopter burned $100,000 of fuel…Read More yesterday circling the area for hours. Yes, I saw the road blocked as I live in the area. The name of the man who they cannot find cannot be released? Is that because we wouldn't want his rights as a multiple time felon to be violated? Police Jerks.
Jack Schaedel March 13, 2013 at 02:58 am
Why is the name not being released? The individual is an adult. It would be helpful, as a…Read More resident, to know this.
