Bill, she was an amazing woman, to say the least! And you're so right - NOTHING happens by…Read More coincidence...I find it so appropriate that she was met by her husband, probably flowers in hand, to welcome her into Heaven! And you KNOW Robert was there to give her a hug as well!

Dr. Yamanaka was my dentist when I was a kid, and I'm still cavity-free over 20 years later! His son…Read More Todd & I were classmates (we even made a student film together) and if I recall correctly, we were in Y Indian Guides together, too. Yamanaka was a great and gentle dentist. As you can glimpse from this coverage his passing is going to leave a huge hole in the fabric of the community because he was a great man, too, leaving a positive influence and raising some great kids. My sympathies go to his loved ones, his staff, and his patients.

Got the pleasure of meeting Huell at a UC Davis fund raiser. He was very nice and so funny. We have…Read More a picture we took with him and also he signed a t-shirt we have framed. Almost all our trips are because of him. He helped us learn and love California. RIP Huell.

My sister stumbled on Fiona's five or six years ago just before Halloween. I was living in…Read More Portland, OR at the time and my sister mailed tea towels in a bag that Fiona had decorated with a hand drawn pumpkin! I moved to Ventura about three years ago and had the pleasure of meeting Fiona and visiting the shop quite often. A note which I received from her late last summer said she already was getting the shop in order for autumn and Halloween as she so loved pumpkins. Fiona's was magical and to have been in the presence of Fiona herself has blessed and enriched my life.

I lived in the Glendale/Montrose/La Canada/Shadow Hills areas until 2005 and then moved to Dallas,…Read More TX. I discovered Fiona's way back in the 70's and stopped by off and on over the years both in Glendale and later up in Montrose. I have many objects in my house from her store, and wonderful memories of her and positive, inspiring attitude. Our last visit to the area was in 2009 and she was as cheerful as ever and asked me to keep in touch.....this year in response to my Christmas card her son sent a note telling me of her passing. She will be missed!

My mom and I spent many hours prowling around her store during my childhood. It always struck me as…Read More being someplace magical, and she was like a fairy godmother. And the complimentary cider and butter cookies were more delicious there than anywhere else in the world. She and the store will always live on in my memory and heart.

Very sad. My condolences to the family. I think about the time I nearly lost my life on that road…Read More 25 years ago, when I was in my 20's. Came around a corner and found 3 cafe racers racing. 2 of them in the wrong lane approaching head on. I swerved and lost control and went over the side about 150 ft. Car (85 Honda CRX) stayed right side up and I walked away un harmed. The next day I had to hire a crane to get my car out and the driver told me some horrific stories of what he'd witnessed on that road. A very dangerous road, especially on the weekend.

Very moving and emotional service. If Drew only knew how many people cared about him, his family and…Read More his community. Important words spoken by Mr Leone towards the end of the service stating how important it is we take care of one another in our beautiful Crescenta Valley. I for one have been moved, even changed by this event. I am guessing it would bring much comfort to the Ferraro family for good things to come from this tragedy like tolerance and forgiveness towards each other.

Norbert was the key to our ability to build the Shell Car Wash by his unselfishness in selling off a…Read More portion of his town center property to us. His price was not cheap...probably double the going rate at the time, but the potential income was greater than the cost. It was a win-win. Bill Koury
