(GLENDALE, CA – September 27, 2012) – Verdugo Hills Hospital (VHH) has recently received ISO certification for three years by DNV Healthcare. VHH continues to place high focus on patient safety and quality healthcare.
“This has been a very challenging journey and is evidence of our continuing commitment to ensuring the highest level of quality, safety and efficiency of care for our community,” said Judy McCurdy, Vice President of Patient Care Services at VHH.
“ISO 9001 demonstrates our commitment to quality,” said Mark Lueken, Director of Quality Management at VHH. “VHH is one of approximately 60 hospitals in the United States to obtain this certification.”
DNV Healthcare’s accreditation program is referred to as NIAHO (National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations). It is the only Medicare accreditation process that includes ISO 9001, which is a set of standards for global quality management systems that is used to establish and measure quality and accountability in various organizations.
DNV accreditation is the first and only CMS-approved accreditation program that integrates ISO 9001 healthcare quality standards with Medicare Conditions of Participation.
DNV (Det Norske Veritas) has issued more than 1,200 ISO certificates to healthcare facilities worldwide, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, diagnostic centers, laboratories, nursing homes and homecare centers – as well as aerospace, automotive, manufacturing and software industries. Some local companies that are ISO 9001 include Jet Propulsion Laboratory and NASA.
