Vibraphonist Rocks the Descanso Main Lawn (Photos)
Reknowned vibraphonist and bandleader Nick Mancini awed an impressive audience on the Descanso Gardens main lawn recently, with an array of original compositions, standards and legendary songs.
To call Nick Mancini a virtuoso of the vibraphone feels like an understatement in the afterglow of the enchanting concert he offered The Descanso Gardens crowd one recent evening.
The ethereal and jazzy resonance made by Mancini and the transcendent band who backed him up could be heard echoing in the hills from across the parking lot, and was, no doubt, a wonder to behold up close.
Mancini has led an illustrious career, recording alongside artists from Julian Fleisher and his Rather Big Band to the Manhattan Jazz Orchestra and performing with many others. A seasoned composer, Mancini's music is at once bold, adventurous, detailed, free-spirited, humorous, and a downright wonder to behold.
