Swimming: Spartan Girls Remain Undefeated in League Competition

LCHS crushed Temple City last week, faces South Pasadena on Thursday.

The La Cañada girls swim team remained undefeated in Rio Hondo League compeition as they hammered Temple City 119-50 last Thursday afternoon at a home meet

The Spartans were once again led by Katy Campbell (winner of the 200- and 500-yard freestyle), Sarah Olson (50 and 100 free winner) and Kenzie Heaton, who was victorious in the 100 breaststroke. Sammy Campbell won the 100 backstroke, and placed second in the 500 free.

Michelle Varraveto rounded out the Spartan 500 free sweep with a third place finish. Other top performers were Rita Neat (second in the 200 free and 100 breast), Raya Choi (second in the 100 free and third in the 100 back), Caitlyn Seto (second 200 IM), Kristine Seulymezian (third 200 IM & 100 Fly), Morgan Harrick (second 100 Fly).

Karolina Dudek and Elizabeth Whitefield raced on the winning 4x100 free relay team. The junior varsity girls also won 83-71.

Next up for the Spartans swimmers is a Thursday date against South Pasadena.
