pitchers Lauren Cox and Alyssa Stolmack combined on a no-hitter against Temple City and won the Rio Hondo League championship at Temple City High School on Monday.
Catcher Catherine Horner hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning in a 7-0 win. Stolmack added a solo shot in the seventh inning.
Cox started the game for La Canada and went five innings. She walked one batter and struck out four without giving up a hit.
"It’s extremely hard to beat this team when Lauren’s pitching," Horner said. "She is on every single game. She always hits her spots and never gives up more than zero to two hits a game."
Stolmack relieved Cox in the sixth inning and pitched two perfect inning to complete the no-hitter.
La Canada (19-4-1), the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 poll, travels to Monrovia for a Rio Hondo League game Tuesday.
