CIF-SS Spring Coaches' Polls Through April 18

The latest CIF-Southern Section spring sports polls are out, and the La Canada softball team took back its No. 1 ranking in Division 5.

The Spartans started off the year as the top team in the fifth division, but they were surpassed by Duarte in recent weeks and dropped to No. 3 in last week's poll. La Canada beat Rio Hondo League foes Temple City and San Marino last week and then shutout La Reina and Oxnard on Saturday to leapfrog Duarte and Beaumont in the rankings.

The Arcadia baseball team was another squad to make a move this past week, surging past Pacific League rival Crescenta Valley to take the No. 4 spot in the Division 2 poll. The Apaches were among "others receiving votes last week" but they beat the Falcons 4-2 on Friday to take over sole-possession of first place in the Pacific League.
