An honorary first pitch was thrown by Meredith, Chris and Cam Jobe,
three of the four sons of the late pioneering orthopedic surgeon Frank Jobe,
who died March 6 at the age of 88. The Dodgers announced today that their
training room would be named for Jobe.
Army Spc. Cheyne Gomez of Hacienda Heights was honored as the Veteran of the Game.
Gomez enlisted in 2008 to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather. He
is assigned to the 1908th Combat Stress Control Detachment, a reserve unit
attached to the 807th Medical Command, and was deployed to Iraq in 2009. His
awards include the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service
