Shaking It Up at LCPC's Faith Cafe

La Cañada Presbyterian's Vacation Bible School hit record numbers this summer with 207 children.

What makes up your faith?

This summer, 207 children answered that question every day at annual Vacation Bible School, church spokeswoman Camille Tucker anounced, noting it was the highest-attended children's program to date.

Kids gathered for a week of games, Bible stories, crafts, science experiments and music. This year's theme was “Shake-It-Up Cafe.'' Each day the children learned about an important “ingredient” in their faith, with all of the activities highlighting the ingredient for the day.

The children also collected canned food items, which will be given to a local food pantry that provides food for needy families. They also raised approximately $1,500, which will be sent to Bread for the World, an organization that addresses the issue of global poverty.

“VBS is one of my most favorite weeks of the year,” Kristin Leucht, Associate Pastor of Family Ministry, wrote in a prepared statement.

“I love that we have the opportunity to teach Bible stories in fun and creative ways.  Besides learning more about the Bible and faith, the children have a great time playing and making new friends,” she added.

This year, over 70 volunteers helped to make the activities run smoothly, as LCPC hosted a record number of children, who came from La Cañada and beyond, including nearby La Crescenta, Pasadena, and as far away as San Marino.
