Settlement: Ethnic Slur Teacher Will Leave District

La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board President Scott Tracy said Gabrielle Leko will leave the district June 15.

The governing board and the teacher who used ethnic slurs in class and discriminated against female students have reached a settlement that resulted in the employee's separation from the district.

Board president Scott Tracy announced the unanimous decision regarding Gabrielle Leko after Tuesday's closed-door meeting. The board will release a 400-word statement following the end of the regular meeting.

Earlier this month, The La Cañada Unified School District's outside investigator substantiated a complaint by former board member Cindy Wilcox against Leko, the math teacher  in her classroom over the years.
