KC Mathews won coach of the year for Division 5 for the second year in a row.

"I wasn't expecting [to be named player of the year] at all, actually," Horner told the La Cañada Valley Sun. "I really couldn't have [asked for a better senior year], winning CIF is just the cherry on top of everything. Our team had been working since September and the years past to get to where we did,'' she told the newspaper.

According to the Valley Sun, Horner went two for three and scored all three times she reached base in this year's championship game against Beaumont on June 3. This year the Spartans won 7-3, and in 2011 they won 1-0.
