LCHS Students: Don't Miss Korean Culture Night

Students from the Korean language program at La Cañada High School tout Friday's event as a chance to celebrate people's differences.

eleventh grader Howard Kim didn't mind when his parent's electricity went out during last month's windstorm, because it prompted him to meet his neighbors.

The 16-year-old La Cañada resident walked outside and started chatting with a man of Syrian descent, whose relatives in Syria had left the country because of religious persecution. The two talked about their different cultures and learned a little something about each other - and that's the overarching purpose of Friday's Korean Culture Night.

"It's a night when we bring our cultures, our community together to become more educated and to get to know each other better,'' Kim said.
