Women of the World

Sarah Culberson is  founder of The Kposowa Foundation. She is the biological daughter of one of Sierra Leone's 149 chiefdoms. Culberson was adopted one year after her birth by a West Virginia couple and was raised in the United States with little knowledge of her ancestry.  In 2004, Miss Culberson hired a private investigator to track down her roots, and discovered that her father was in fact a prince. Since then, Culberson has established the Kposowa Foundation to alleviate the suffering endured by the people of Sierra Leone. 

Carmel Jud founder of Rising International was a high school dropout who built a successful advertising business but turned her back on fame and fortune to build a nonprofit that sells women's crafts from the poorest places on earth. 

Dove Pressnall, founder of Survivors Truths was compelled to take action. While working as a trainer and field supervisor of Liberian counselors and social workers she listened to the stories of war survivors including women survivors of targeted sexual violence, male and female torture survivors of all ages, and conscripted child soldiers

Three outstanding California-based women will share their own amazing stories at the 50/50 Leadership Organization and the Foothills chapter of the UNA 4th Annual Women of the World Awards gala on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 12:30pm to 4pm at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club in La Canada Flintridge, CA..
