Candidates Vie For Seats on Pasadena City College Board of Trustees

Two candidates have declared their candidacy for a seat representing La Canada Flintridge, West Pasadena and West Altadena.

Months away from the Nov. 5 election and already, the race for a seat on the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees is heating up, according to a story in the Pasadena Sun.

Two candidates, Real estate economist Ross Selvidge and Alex Keledijian, a PCC and La Canada High School graduate, are running for a seat representing voters in La Canada Flintridge, West Pasadena and West Altadena.

The November election will also include a Northwest Pasadena seat, a seat representing San Marino and South Pasadena and a seat representing Arcadia.

Selvidge, 66, announced his candidacy Thursday and boasts a resume that includes service on the Rose Bowl Operating Co. board and multiple city commissions and a career as a professor at USC.

Keledijian announced his candidacy in March. He was a student representative on the La Canada Unified School District and was the president of the La Canada High School Republican Club.

Prospective candidates are expected to address current controversial college President Mark Rocha and his unpopular budget cuts.

Candidates must file nomination papers between July 15 and Aug. 9.
