Broken Pipe Leads to Venue Change for School Board Meeting

The regular meeting of the La Cañada Unified School District's governing board will convene at 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room of Palm Crest Elementary.

A failed pipe fitting in the district's round building left walls damp and prompted the relocation of Tuesday's regular school board meeting.

The 7 p.m. meeting will be held in the multipurpose room at as the walls in the board room continue to dry out, said Assistant Superintendent Mike Leininger.

"[Water] ran all weekend and, as a result, we had to bring in a company to dry out the walls. Water also got into the basement where our mechanicals are, and we have to change out some equipment,'' Leininger wrote in an email to Patch.

Although the leak occurred last week, officials weren't sure if the room would be ready by tonight's meeting, so they relocated it. Leininger did not yet have a cost estimate for damage repair, he said.
