School Board Candidate Takes Misspelled Sign in Stride

Candidate Ellen Multari's 2011 campaign sign stresses commitment with one too many "m's.''

The typo was brought to her attention last week, but when a reporter asked school board candiate Ellen Multari about one too many "m's'' in her campaign sign on election day, she quipped, "MMMea culpa.''

The campaign signs have been plunged into La Cañada lawns for weeks, but the first posted a photo of the misspelling Tuesday.

Los Angeles-based Colby Poster Printing Company won't be getting any "As'' for adding a third "m'' to the quality Multari promises to deliver, if elected to the La Cañada Unified School District governing board. Multari is vying for one of two seats available on the board. The other candidates include incumbent Jeanne Broberg and challengers Andrew Blumenfeld and Ernest Koeppen.

As for the late-noticed gaffe, Multari said, "Truthfully, the typo has been there all along and was not caught in creation, production or distribution.  So, I will have to take my lumps for this and say, 'MMMea culpa'"!
