Portantino Honors Arcadia Businessman

The La Cañada legislator gave kudos to Kevin Zimmerman and his company, Arroyo Plumbing, in Sacramento earlier this week.

Arcadia businessman Kevin Zimmerman and his company were honored as the 44th District Small Business of the Year by Assemblymember Anthony Portantino (D-La Cañada Flintridge) at California Small Business Day in Sacramento this week.

“I am pleased to recognize Kevin Zimmerman for his dedication and hard work in Arcadia and the San Gabriel Valley,” Portantino said in a released statement. “Kevin is a success not only because of his business acumen, but because he gives back to the community through his dedication to the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce where he has served as board member and Chamber President.”

According to Arroyo Plumbing’s Web site, Zimmerman has had a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together since the tender age of two. He put his talent to use by starting Arroyo Plumbing in 1988. Family-owned and operated, Zimmerman continues to serve as President of the company while his wife, Linda Young Zimmerman, serves as Vice President.

"We at the Arcadia Chamber are so proud of Kevin and pleased to see he is being recognized with this award for which he is so deserving," said Scott Hettrick, Executive Director of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce and also a columnist for Patch. "Kevin was recently President of the Chamber and selflessly devoted countless hours to the betterment of the Chamber during his years on the Executive Council, and continues to do so as a board member."

Zimmerman is no stranger to awards. He captured the Chamber's Business Person of the Year award in 2003.
