Aspiring scientists worldwide have a shot at joining the Cassini Mission for a day at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in La Canada Flintridge.
NASA invites U.S. students in grades 5 to 12 to enter an essay contest based on Cassini's Mission surrounding Saturn and its moons.
Students can pick a favorite from three different target images provided by scientists and write a persuasive essay describing the scientific merits of the choice.
Participants must explain which image would yield the most scientific results. The deadline is Oct. 24.
Students from select participating countries, including Australia and Morocco, can also enter the contest. The deadlines vary for each country.
