JPL’s Mars Program Gets Boost With NASA Budget Hike

NASA's Planetary Science Division will get an extra $123 million in this year's budget.

The Jet Propulsion Lab’s Mars Program may get an extra boost when NASA’s planetary science division receives a $123 million hike for the rest of 2013.

The division, which is responsible for sending the rover Curiosity to Mars, will receive the funding as par of a temporary spending bill signed by President Obama last Tuesday, according to the Pasadena Sun.

After mandatory federal sequester cuts, the NSA division will receive $1.315 billion for 2013.
