Forest Roads Closed Due to Impending Storm

Angeles Forest Highway and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road will close Thursday.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works has announced that, based on the forecast of rain, snow and icy road conditions, it will close public access to the following county roads within the Angeles Forest by 11: 30 PM, Thursday:

• Angeles Forest Highway from Aliso Canyon Road to Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road

• Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to SR-2 (Angeles Crest Highway)

Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles, including Public Works personnel. Local access will not be permitted until weather conditions have improved, the roads have been made safe for travel and closures have been lifted.

Kerjon Lee, Public Affairs Manager for  LA  County Public Works, said the Department was taking this action as a safety precaution.

“We urge residents to continue to monitor news broadcasts, or visit the CARE website at www.dpwcare.org for further updates,” Lee said in a press release.

Residents, business owners and persons with access or functional needs may also call  2-1-1 for LA County information and referral services regarding post disaster resources that are available to those affected by the floods and debris and mud flow. The toll-free 2-1-1 number is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. 211 LA County Services can also be accessed by visiting www.211la.org.
