Election Battle Update: Blumenfeld Getting Closer to Broberg

As it stands, candidate Andrew Blumenfeld is 12 votes behind incumbent Jeanne Broberg in the race for a seat on the La Cañada Unified School District's governing board.

Updated: Blumenfeld picked up 21 votes Monday, with Broberg adding 19 to her total count, bringing the difference to 12 votes that separate the two candidates.

Monday's added provisional ballots, as tallied by the Los Angeles Conty Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, brings the total voted earned by incumbent Broberg to 1,783 and 1,771 for Blumenfeld.

Multari's votes increased from 2,039 to 2,062 and Koeppen upped his vote count  from 944 to 956.

The next tally will be Wednesday.

Earlier: The ballot counting process continues at 1 p.m. in Norwalk, as La Cañadans eagerly wait to see whether Jeanne Broberg will reclaim her seat on the governing board, or whether it will go to challenger Andrew Blumenfeld.

At last count of the provisional ballots, on Friday, was 14 votes behind veteran board member . The unofficial results from Tuesday's election show Ellen Multari having won a seat, having captured 31.38 percent of the vote, or 2,039 votes. Capturing 14.53 percent of the vote was challenger Ernest Koeppen. Koeppen grabbed 944 votes.

Currently, Broberg has 1,764 votes with Blumenfeld right behind her at 1,750. The 20-year-old Princeton junior who graduated from in 2009, has said he would consider a recount if he finishes mere votes behind Broberg.

The counting is open to the public. If you wish to observe the process, you may go to Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, CA 90650. Counting will be on the 3rd floor, Room 3001. You must check in and will be issued an observer’s badge and guidelines.

Additional tally days will be Wednesday and Friday all at 1 p.m. And the last day of election updates will be Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
