Election Battle: Incumbent's Lead Drops to Two Votes

In the nail-biting race for a seat on the LCUSD governing board, Andrew Blumenfeld has cut Jeanne Broberg's lead to two votes, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

LCUSD Governing Board Candidate is quickly gaining on incumbent , having cut her lead to two votes.

Wednesday's latest tally from the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk shows Broberg with a .03 percent edge, having earned 1,804 votes with Blumenfed nipping at her heels with 1,802 votes. The two are neck and neck to win the second seat up for grabs on the governing board.

Unofficial election results show candidate won her seat Nov. 8. Wednesday's total shows she earned the seat with 31.30 percent of the vote, or 2,085 votes. Fourth-place finisher won 970 votes, or 14.56 percent of the vote.

If successful, this would be Broberg's fourth overall term, and second consecutive term. It is Blumenfeld's first attempt at a seat. The 2009 graduate is currently a junior at Princeton University.

"This is a thrilling election that now serves not only to raise the profile of these important education topics, but also to remind everyone that every vote counts,'' Blumenfeld said Wednesday.

A message left for Broberg was not immediately returned.

The Registrar Recorder will tally additional votes Friday at 1 p.m. and Monday at 10 a.m.
