Sheriff's: Violent & Property Crimes Dip in La Cañada
The number of reported crimes so far this year is lower than this time last year, according to preliminary data from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Violent and property crimes are down in La Cañada Flintridge compared to this same time last year, according to the data released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
La Cañada's decrease follows the county-wide trend of fewer crimes reported in patrol areas. As of the end of July, preliminary crime data show that reported overall incidents of criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault dipped 11.74 percent. Serious property crimes--such as burglary, larceny theft, grand theft auto and arson--have declined by 4.45 percent, compared to 2010.
In La Cañada, which is patrolled by the , both violent and property crimes combined dropped a total of 18.5 percent in 2011, according to department statistics released Wednesday. The full sheriff's department report is posted to the right.
