Two Girls in Freeway Crash Remain Hospitalized
The CHP offers more details about the crash and its victims.
Two girls remained hospitalized Tuesday, with injuries they suffered when an SUV with a possible blown tire crashed off the side of the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock, killing four other people in the vehicle.
The girls, ages six and 15, were riding in a 1999 Ford Expedition that crashed
over the side of the eastbound freeway near Figueroa Street about 7 p.m. Sunday and plunged onto Figueroa Street below, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Killed were the driver, who was a woman about 40; and three passengers—a man in his 50s, a woman in her 30s, and a girl about 11, authorities said.

Their names have not yet been released. The two women and the girl died at the scene, and , the CHP reported.
The surviving girls were hospitalized in critical condition. One of them
had been ejected from the vehicle, according to the CHP.

All six were occupants of the SUV, which ended up on Figueroa Street
about 40 feet below the freeway.
A blown tire may have caused the crash, CHP Officer Adam Eggleston said.
"A witness observed possible tire debris,'' Eggleston said. "The vehicle lost control, began to flip, rotated approximately three times and a child was ejected.''
