Police Blotter: Vehicular Burglaries

Petty thefts top list of recent crimes reported to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station.

Smash and Grab

A 40-year-old La Cañada woman told police between 9:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 8 a.m. Dec. 21 someone smashed the front window of her car, parked outside her home in the 4800 block of Vienta Avenue, and stole the $600 Coach purse she left on the seat. In its place, the brick used to shatter the glass. Later that morning, she saw that someone used one of her stolen credit cards to charge $150 at Albertson's in Reseda.

Pilfered Purse

A 38-year-old Glendale woman reported that someone stole her purse from the front passenger seat of her locked car, parked at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive, between 5:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. Dec. 21. Inside the purse were credit cards, $50 cash and a $100 cell phone.

A 55-year-old La Cañada man reported to authorities that an unidentified person stole a nylon bag filled with $600 worth of Klein tools, from his unlocked Chevy utility truck. The truck, whose rear compartment had been left open,  was parked in the 2200 block of Richey Drive,  a couple of houses away from his residence.
