Paradise Canyon Elementary Evacuated Due to Possible Electrical Fire

The fire is put out in minutes, and firefighters are still on the scene.

A possible electrical fire that may have started in a utility closet at Paradise Canyon Elementary in La Canada Flintridge caused the school to be evacuated Friday around 12:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Public Information Office.

No injuries were reported at the school, which is at 471 Knight Way, and the fire was out upon the arrival of firefighters at 12:27 p.m., according to information broadcast over the fire scanner.

Firefighters were still on the scene as of 12:55 p.m., and it is unknown if students have reentered the building. No one answered the phone at the school when Patch called around 1:15 p.m.

County firefighters have requested that representatives from Southern California Gas and Southern California Edison come to the school, according to information heard on the scanner.

Patch will update this story as more information is available.

Surprised that no reporter in town actually drove the five minutes it takes to get to the school to get details, instead of making a story based on chatter overheard on a fire department scanner.
