Update: One Dead, Two Injured After Fall Near Angeles Crest Highway

The rescue occurred in the area of the 41.95 mile marker of ACH, according to authorities.

A Tujunga man is dead and two others have been hospitalized after a fall in the vicinity of the 41.95 mile marker of the Angeles Crest Highway Saturday afternoon, according to officers at the

The trio fell about 600 feet into a concrete culvert, said Sgt. Debra Herman of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station, which is investigating the incident.

"One of them climbed to the roadway and flagged down help," she said, adding that some Good Samaritans attempted to render aid. Two of the men were transported to local hospitals, one by air and one by ground. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office confirmed the deceased victim as 18-year-old Vigen Sarkisyan of Tujunga.

There are other reports stating that the incident was a result of a vehicle falling over the side of the mountain, but Lt. Angela Shepard of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's station told Patch on Sunday there "was a car up there, but it didn't tumble over the side" and that a "vehicle was not involved." She also added that the three men were not hikers, and that the Sheriff's Department is still looking into why the men were there.
