Updated: Motorcyclist Crashes on Crest, Unconscious

CHP is responding to a motorcyclist down at mile marker 41 on Angeles Crest Highway.

UPDATED 6:20 p.m: A 44-year-old motorcycle driver was taken by helicopter from Angeles Crest Highway to Huntington Memorial Hospital with "major injuries,'' authorities said.

Officer Christian Cracraft said the man, whose identity was not released, suffered scrapes and bruises to his knees, elbows and face. The man was admitted to Huntington Memorial for treatment, he said.

Cracraft did not know the cause of the accident.

Earlier: A motocyclist is unconcious after an afternoon crash on Angeles Crest Highway, authorities said Tuesday.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Ron Cohan said officers were responding to mile marker 41, between Mount Wilson and Upper Big Tujunga Canyon roads just after 1 p.m.

Cohan said the incident appeared to be a "significant injury,'' but that officers may not have specific information for seveal hours.
