LCF Runner Describes Scene of Boston Marathon Explosions

Maryann Boosalis, 26, had finished the marathon and walked back to her hotel room when she heard the sirens.

Maryann Boosalis, 26, of La Canada-Flintridge said she couldn't believe the news that was unfolding on the television.

The Cal State Northridge grad student had just finished the Boston Marathon race Monday and walked back to her hotel room with her mother, she told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. She was one of three members of the Pasadena Pacers Running Club to participate in the marathon.

Boosalis and her mother heard the sirens of ambulances and police cars zooming past the hotel, but a bombing was the last thing on their minds. They were horrified when they saw the news on T.V.

"I thought, is this real? I didn't know. I was really confused," Boosalis said by phone Monday afternoon from their Park Plaza hotel. "Thank God, we had just missed it. We've been hearing nonstop sirens going by the hotel. They're still going by. It's crazy."

Boosalis, who finished the race in 3 hours 37 minutes and 10 seconds, went on to say that she thought about lingering around the finish line, but decided to go back to the hotel to shower since it was close by.
