It's almost time for Montrose Search and Rescue Team's Recruitment Night.

The Montrose Search and Rescue team is a detail of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which requires academy training, EMT training and mountain rescue training. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputies are volunteers who are paid $1.00 per year for their services. All the members of the Montrose Search and Rescue Team are Reserve Deputies who are available at a moment’s notice to assist the Crescenta Valley Station and the communities it serves.

The team is ready to respond to most mountainous emergencies, whether it is a lost or injured hiker, skier or rock climber. Members come from all walks of life but share a common bond: the sense of satisfaction felt when the team returns a lost hiker to their family, or provides necessary medical assistance to an injured biker, Sgt. Mark Slater wrote in a prepared statement.

Wednesday's recruitment event takes place at 7:30 p.m. at , 4554 Briggs Avenue, La Crescenta.
