The 23-year-old La Cañada Flintridge man who died after being struck by two cars while crossing the 2 Freeway in Montrose early Sunday morning has been identified as Ryder Ahren Buck, according to the Glendale News-Press

The CHP was notified of the death on the northbound freeway, just north of Fern Lane overpass, at 5:25 a.m., according to a department statement.

Buck was walking across the freeway when he was struck by a 2003 Honda Accord driven by a 22-year-old man from Sylmar, according to a CHP report.

The impact forced him up on the windshield of the Honda, and he was then struck by a 2012 Hyundai Elantra.

Paramedics rushed the Honda driver and Buck to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, where Buck died. The motorist in the Honda suffered moderate injures, according to the department.

Authorities are unsure why Buck was walking across the eight-lane freeway, according to the Glendale News-Press, which also reported that Buck was a musician and a 2008 graduate from La Cañada High School.
