Hiker Found Dead in Angeles National Forest

Authorities are still investigating the death of a man found near the Mt. Wilson Toll Road in the Henninger Flats area.

Investigators are trying to determine the death of a hiker found in the Henninger Flats area in Angeles National Forest early Sunday.

Authorities were alerted about the body sometime after 9:30 a.m. Sunday, according to Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Altadena Station.

Authorities were en route to the scene to aid what was initially reported as a downed hiker. The hiker, a male white in his mid-50s, was described as face down, according to scanner reports.

Upon the arrival of paramedics and deputies and the Altadena Search and Rescue, the man was pronounced dead. The cause of death is not officially known at this time Shepherd said, but his death appears to be from natural causes.
