Four Hikers Rescued After Two Days in Wilderness

Four overnight hikers were in the wilderness area of Switzer Falls for two days when they were found Monday morning - they had been scheduled to return on Sunday.

Four hikers were located by local search and rescue teams around 11:30 a.m. Monday south of Switzer Falls after a search that began on Sunday night.

The four hikers left on Saturday morning for an overnight trip and had been expected to return by Sunday evening, according to Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

When they did not arrive, the department was notified and a search for the hikers began. The search included Montrose Search and Rescue and San Dimas Search and Rescue, Shepherd said.

The hikers were found uninjured, but were unsure of how to get out of the wilderness area.  The search and rescue teams walked them out, Shepherd said.
