Updated: Fire Damages La Cañada Flintridge Home

Fire causes extensive damages to a residence on the 5100 block of Oakwood Avenue late Monday evening.

While the cause of the residential fire cannot be identified until after a full investigation, homeowners Katherine and David Hensley told the La Cañada Valley Sun that the fire started in their attic and spread to the rest of the home by traveling above the ceiling.

Katherine Hensley noted that fire may be attributed to wiring or other elictrical issues, the La Cañada Valley Sun reports.

1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27

A fire fully engulfed a home on the 5100 block of Oakwood Avenue late Monday evening, but resulted in no injuries.

"The homeowners made the call and immediately stepped out of the house," said Captain Adrian Murrieta of Fire Station 82. "No one was hurt."

received the 911 call at about 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26. Six station crews immediately responded and extinguished the main body of the fire in 30 minutes. Murietta noted that crews were able to salvage parts of the home.

The is currently investigating the cause of the fire. The homeowners are currently reviewing the extensive damages with their insurance company, Murrieta said.

"The house will not be occupied for a while," Murrieta said.
