Elite Firefighter Crew Helped Fight Station Fire in 2009

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council adjourned its meeting this week in memory of the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew.

The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew, whom the nation mourned after 19 firefighters died battling an Arizona wildfire, was recognized during a La Cañada Flintridge City Council meeting this week.

The crew helped fight the 2009 Station Fire that ravaged the Angeles National Forest and killed two firefighters. During Monday's council meeting, attendee Eldon Horst credited the crew for saving La Cañada property, according to a La Cañada Valley Sun article.

“Their work saved our neighborhood, possibly our city,” Horst stated in the article.
