Elderly Diamond Bar Man Found Safe Near JPL

Man had been missing since Thursday, but was found in good spirits.

An 88-year-old man missing for nearly two days was found by JPL security Friday night.

Wallace Tallant was near the Jet Propulsion Laboratory when he was approached by security officers around 8 p.m. Deputies were notified and took the man back to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station and was determined to be in good health, said Lieutenant Brian Fitch.

"He didn't look the least bit disheveled, or disturbed. He was actually in very good health and in very good spirits," Fitch said.

Tallant was then taken by a deputy from the Diamond Bar/Walnut Sheriff's Station and is reportedly back home now, Fitch said.

Tallant, a former Los Angeles Police Department officer, went missing from his Diamond Bar home Thursday, Nov. 29. The man had taken off from the home in the 1400 block of Spruce Tree Drive in a Silver 2013 Kia optima late at night. It was not immediately clear if Tallant's vehicle was also found.

Authorities had issued a bulletin to help in locating Tallant since he suffers from high blood pressure and failing kidneys.
