Dead Man Found on Crest Identified

Authorities have identified the man who died from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The man found dead in his car parked on Angeles Crest Highway Monday has been identified as 43-year-old Eric Leif Canuteson of Pasadena, according to the Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner.

Assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, though it was reported as a suicide.

Capt. John Kades of the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner told the Glendale News-Press on Monday that the victim appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. The newspaper did not identify the victim.

Canuteson's body was discovered near mile marker 26, above the Angeles National Forest snow gate.
