$4,000 Taken From Home
On May 4, a 30-year-old La Cañada male reported a burglary at the 5000 block of Merita Place in La Cañada. The man arrived home from work and found the front door unlocked. His wife arrived a few minutes after and found that the front bedroom had been ransacked. His blue duffel bag that had held $4,000 in U.S. currency was sitting on the ground in the room and the money had been taken by the robber(s). The robber(s) entered through the kitchen door by tearing open the kitchen door window screen, raising the window, and unlocking the door from the inside by sticking a hand through the window.
Miscellaneous Jewelry Missing
$1,000 in miscellaneous jewelry was taken from a home on the 1300 block on Salisbury Court in La Cañada. A 62-year-old La Cañada female reported the crime on May 3. She had returned home and found her kitchen and two other bedrooms ransacked. A sliding glass door was later found to have been smashed and robber(s) gained entry by unlocking the door from the inside of the home.
iPhone and Wallet Robbed From Car
A 49-year-old La Crescenta male notified the police on May 6 regarding theft by access card. He had parked his unlocked car in the La Cañada High School parking lot adjacent to Oak Grove Drive on the block of 4400 Oak Grove Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. When he returned, he found that his iPhone 4S, worth $500, and wallet with debit cards, credit cards, driver’s license, and cash had been stolen. When he called the bank to cancel his debit and credit cards, he was alerted that an unauthorized charge of $87.43 had been made at a Chevron gas station at 623 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge.
Pocketbook Poached at Von’s Market
On May 4, an 81-year-old La Cañada female contacted the police regarding petty theft at the Von’s Market on the 635 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada. When she made her way to the checkout counter, she found that her pocketbook that had $100 in cash, credit cards, and California ID was missing. She had placed her purse in the child seat compartment while shopping. Nevae Zaed, a 49-year-old Oakland female, was arrested in relation to the incident.
Man Reports Attempted Burglary
A 62-year-old La Cañada Flintridge male told the police on May 6 about an attempted burglary at the 4400 block of Hobbs Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. A neighbor of the man noticed that the gates leading to the backyard were open. The man noticed that there were pry marks on the doors. Five years ago, his home had been burglarized. No items were reported as missing.
