Crime Blotter: Missing: One Car, One Can

Windows are smashed and both a car and a trash can are reported stolen.

The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station.

Speakers Stolen

Sometime between 10:30 a.m. February 25 and 1 p.m. March 12, unidentified suspects entered the Paradise Canyon Elementary School cafeteria and made off with a set of JBL speakers from a stage area. No signs of forced entry were noted in the report, despite the cafeteria being locked during non-school hours.

Stolen iPod

On Wednesday, March 16, a female student reported that while taking a ballet class at LCUSD, 4490 Cornishon Ave., someone stole an iPod Touch from her unattended backpack. During the same time period, approximately 4 – 7 p.m., an instructor at the location noted that the desk in her room had been ransacked, but nothing appeared missing.

Can Disappearance

A 53-year old female resident in the 4800 block of Palm Drive reported that her green, 60-gallon trash can had been stolen after placing it outside her residence on Sunday, March 19. The can was valued at $100

Attempted Burglary

A resident of the 4800 block of Alimar Avenue notified deputies that while he had been gone from his house, unidentified suspects had tried to break in. The man noted that he had left his home at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 25, locking all doors and windows. Upon his return one hour later, he found damage to a window screen, the back door, and a sliding glass door. Deputies noted pry marks were visible. Nothing seemed out of place, missing, or unusual inside the house. Damage was estimated at $750.

Smash and Grab

A female resident of Sun Valley came into the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s station on the morning of March 26 to report that her Chevy Tahoe, while parked at La Granada Way and Foothill Boulevard, had been burglarized. The victim told deputies that the right, rear passenger side window of her locked vehicle had been smashed and her purse, sitting on the floor of the backseat, taken. Lost with the purse were two wallets, numerous credit cards, a camera, sunglasses, and $650 in cash. Total losses and damages were estimated at $2250.

Stolen Tacoma

Sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. Sunday, a white, 2003 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck valued at $7,000 was stolen from the 1100 block of Descanso Drive.

GPS Nabbed

A female resident in the 4400 block of Rockland Place reported that sometime between 9 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, someone smashed the driver’s front window of her car and stole a Magellan GPS system that had been left on the passenger seat. The 2005 Hyundai Accent had been locked and parked in its assigned space at the victim’s residence. The Magellan system is valued at $250.
