Crime Blotter: iPad Theft, Residential Burglary

The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Only one residential burglary was reported in La Canada Flintridge this week.

Between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 10, a victim reported that a mountain bike and helmet, valued at $300, were stolen from inside his garage on the 5700 block of Ocean View Boulevard.

A residential burglary was reported in the 900 block of Regent Drive between 9:30 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. on Jan. 11. According to reports, the victim returned home and noticed the lights were on and several rooms had been ransacked. The victim noted that several items, valued at $5,000, were stolen from jewelry boxes in her master bedroom. Stolen items include a diamond ring, pearl necklace, pearl and diamond ring and pearl earrings. It is likely the suspect entered the residence through a shattered glass door. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

Between 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 12, a victim reported that the left side mirror of her 2000 Mercedes E320 was stolen from the front of her residence in the 4700 block of La Canada Boulevard. The victim noted that car alarm did not go off and the wiring connecting to mirror to the car had also been cut. The damage is estimated at $1,000.

At 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 12, reported that a suspect stole an iPad 2 from the on the 800 block of Foothill Boulevard. According to reports, the suspect asked a customer service employee for help with an insurance claim regarding his wireless phone. The suspect proceeded to ask a different employee for a store bag. Surveillance camera footage shows that the man placed the store's display iPad 2 model inside the bag and exited the store. Store employees realized the display iPad 2 was missing after the suspect had already left the store.

Between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Jan. 13, a victim reported that the key to a BMW M3 was stolen from his mailbox on the 5300 block of Ocean View Boulevard. The victim noted that he found the envelope that they key was sent in, but the key was missing.

At 2:51 p.m. on Jan. 16, a suspect stole two purses from the on Foothill Boulevard. According to surveillance camera footage, the man was waiting in line to purchase the purses but ran out of the store after an employee asked him if he needed any help. The store employee was unsuccessful in apprehending the suspect, who drove off in a white two-door sedan.
