Crime Blotter: Heater Theft Creates Chilly Patio Dining

Guests are left in the cold at Cafe Sole and valuable jewelry is stolen from a residence.

The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station.

Psych Equipment Snatched

Some time between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 and 8 a.m. the following day, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and ransacked the interior. A neighbor noticed the smashed window of the car parked in front of a residence in the 1600 block of Leycross Drive and notified the owner. Reported stolen from the vehicle were a book and psychological testing equipment valued at $500.

Blame it on the Pants

After being pulled over for a traffic violation at 1:45 a.m. on April 6, deputies discovered that Sebastian Limon, a 19-year-old male resident of Hollywood, had been driving on a suspended license. According to the report, a subsequent search revealed that Limon had in his possession a plastic baggie containing a green powdery substance the officer believed to be the drug Ecstasy. Limon reportedly told the office that it was candy.

According to the report, Limon agreed to be interviewed but deputies said he changed his story. He allegedly said that he didn’t know what the substance was and that he was wearing his friend’s pants. The reporting deputy noted that the pants fit Limon well and Limon admitted that the Chapstick and wallet in the pants pockets belonged to him. Limon was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license and possession of controlled substance.

Heater Theft Leaves Guests in the Cold

The owner of , 1929 Verdugo Blvd., reported a burglary to deputies on the morning of Thursday, April 7. Stolen from a patio area of the restaurant were two propane heaters and two tanks of propane. The owner noted that she had not noticed the heaters missing until a customer complained of being cold and wanted to turn them on. Deputies believe the culprits entered and exited the patio through a zippered, plastic door covering.

Fast Thieves

After returning home from a quick trip to pick up his kids at school on Monday afternoon, a man discovered open a window at his residence in the 4800 block of Del Monte Road that had been left shut. Some time between 2:30 and 3 p.m. unidentified suspects entered the locked house and made off with three laptop computers, a kid’s backpack, and several gift cards. The man’s wife reported to deputies that her landscapers had been working on the property at the time of the burglary. 

Credit Card Swiped

At 11 a.m. Tuesday, a woman coming out of the gym at the , 1930 Foothill Blvd. heard her SUV’s alarm going off. She reported seeing a white, commercial style van parked next to her vehicle. A man, aged 30 to 40 years old reportedly told her that he had accidentally hit the vehicle before he got into the van and headed eastbound on Foothill Blvd. The victim found the rear, passenger door of her vehicle to be slightly open and her purse, laying ion the back seat, open. One credit card was reported missing. The victim could not recall if she had locked her car.

Valuable Jewelry Stolen

A female resident in the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue left her residence locked at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, but returned home at 3 p.m. to find her front door slightly open, its window smashed, as well as the window of the laundry room door smashed. The master bedroom and her son’s bedroom appeared to be ransacked. Taken from the residence were a Playstation game console, as well as Louis Vuitton bags worth $1,800, a Tiffany necklace and bracelet valued at $3,000, a pink diamond ring worth $5,000, and a diamond ring valued at $18,000.
