Crime Blotter: Catalytic Converter Thieves Strike Again
Similar to incidents reported in May and earlier this month, catalytic converters go missing from Toyotas parked in La Cañada
The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Catalytic Converters Stolen
Deputies reported two separate incidents of theft of catalytic converters in the past ten days.

On Tuesday, July 19, a female resident of La Crescenta reported that the catalytic converter of her 2004 Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck had been stolen while the vehcile was parked on Foothill Boulevard approximately 60 yards from the entrance to the . She reported hearing a loud exhaust noise and upon taking her vehicle to a repair technician, was informed that the catalytic converter, valued at $1,318.72, had been removed.
A week later, a man reported that while his 2002 Sequoia SUV was parked in a city-owned lot near , 1346 Foothill Blvd., both catalytic converters were stolen. The victim noted that upon starting his vehicle he immediately recognized that the converters, valued at $900, had been removed as they had been stolen once before.

Pacth reported similar catalytic converter thefts in the, when two Toyotas and one Honda SUV parked near the YMCA were targeted. The inlcuded the theft of two catalytic converters from a Toyota Sequoia.
Copper Theft
Deputies reported that sometime between Friday, July 15 and Monday, July 18, suspects cut a six-foot high opening in a chain link fence at the Southern California Edison Gould Station, in the 5800 block of Angeles Crest Highway, and made off with 100 to 200 pounds of copper metal from a recycling bin on the property. The copper is valued at $1000.
