Coroner Identifies Body from Wednesday's Incident on the Crest
It appeared the man committed suicide, authorities said.
The body of a man who apparently committed suicide was identified Thursday by the coroner's office as 23-year-old Jason Mo of Chowchilla.
The Northern California man's body was found Wednesday near mile marker 29.5 of the Angeles Crest Highway in the Angeles National Forest, said Inspector Anthony Akins of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Firefighters were sent to the area at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday on a report of someone ``down'' in a vehicle, Akins said. The cause of death was not identified, yet toxic chemicals, presumably used in the apparent suicide, closed the Crest for hours. Authorities from hazardous materials teams cleaned up the chemicals, officials said.
