Motorcycle Crash Shuts Down Angeles Crest Sunday
A rider was injured in a crash and airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital.
A reported motorcycle accident on Angeles Crest Highway temporarily shut down the road Sunday afternoon.
The crash was reported around 12:39 p.m. near mile marker 42, just south of Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road, according to California Highway Patrol traffic logs.
Rescue crews with the reached the crash victim, said Sergeant Cynthia Gonzales.
Both sides of Angeles Crest were shut down while a Sheriff's rescue helicopter was summoned and landed on the highway.
Medics tended to the crash victim and determined the rider may have suffered from a fractured sternum, said CHP officials. The rider reportedly may have hit the guard rail during the crash.
The rider was airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital just after 1 p.m., according to scanner reports.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
