Climber With Broken Legs Airlifted from Angeles Forest

The climber was in a popular rock climbing area near the Horse Flats campground off the Angeles Crest Highway.

A rock climber was airlifted to the Huntington Memorial Hospital around 4:45 p.m. after suffering two broken legs from a fall in the Angeles National Forest, according to Sgt. Randy Tuinstra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The man was at an area where climbing and rappelling are common, near mile 52 of the Angeles Crest Highway, according to Tuinstra.

County air rescue teams were evacuating him around the same time they were handling an .
