Burglaries continue to be the biggest crime problem in the patrol area of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Crescenta Valley Station.

Crime statistics for the month of June show that there were six reported burglaries in the area, up from five in May and part of a continuing problem in 2013, according to statistics released by the station.

One of the most recent burglaries is currently under investigation, Capt. Bill Songtold the Crescenta Valley Town Council on Thursday.

"They’re out looking for one right now. The burglar has already been identified so hopefully will have him soon," Song said.

Song also went on to say that the six burglaries for the month of June mostly consisted of home burglaries; two of the burglaries were businesses burglaries.

Last Month, Deputy Jorge Valdivia told the council that reported burglaries had more than doubled from the same point in 2012.

In more promising news, Song also reported serious crime has been low in the area, as the only reported crimes were the six burglaries, 12 thefts, three cases of vandalism and six narcotics arrests. There were no reported homicides, robberies, grand theft auto, rapes or arsons reported in the month of June.
