Burglar Uses Doggie Door to Break In, Frightens Resident

A 64-year-old La Cañada woman was startled one recent morning when she walked out of her bathroom to find an unidentified burglar in her hallway, according to a Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station crime report.

The woman, who lives in the 4900 block of Alta Canyada Road, heard her dogs barking about 8:26 am. and spotted the stranger, described as 5 feet six inches tall, clean shaven with a buzz cut and wearing a black sweatshirt staring back at her. The woman ran with her dogs into the master bedroom, locked the door and called 9-1-1.

When deputies arrived, the woman was so fearful that he was still in the house, the deputies had to coax her outside. Authorities found the home's doggie door ripped from its hinges, indicating entry. It was unclear what, if anything, was missing. The man was gone by the time authorities arrived, the report stated.
