Bicyclist Sustains Serious Injuries After Collision on Angeles Crest Highway

A bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck from behind by a car on the Angeles Crest Highway Tuesday evening, authorities said.

A bicyclist suffered serious injuries and will be transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital after he was struck from behind by a car while riding on the Angeles Crest Highway Tuesday night, a sheriff's official said.

The 30-year-old male, who is a resident of Oregon, was hit from behind while riding his bike east on the ACH, said Lt. Angela Shepard of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. Authorities received an emergency call at 5:44 p.m., she said.

"I don't know who's fault it was," Shepard said. "The car that was behind him hit him."

Shepard did not know the extent of the bicyclist's injuries, describing them only as "major." The bicyclist's injuries were caused by the collision and he was not knocked over the railing, she said.

Hope the bike rider will recuperate well. Sorry to say but it is dangerous enough to drive an automobile on our highways and streets let alone a bicycle. In my opinion bike riders should stick to carefully delineated bike lanes and not ride alongside cars. With the proliferation of bike riders there will be more accidents.

Poor guy. Hope he recovers! Anyone that knows anything about Angeles Crest is that there are no bike lanes up there. Bikes have every right on the road as do vehicles and that's not an opinion. Not sure how a bike gets rear-ended and we're not sure who's fault it is. If it was a car or motorcycle were rear-ended, there wouldn't be a question.

All the two wheeled crashes lately....makes one say....don't ride it if has only two wheels. The ACH seems to be in an angry mood....
