The chairman and president of the La Cañada Flintridge Republican Club, Dr. Al Restivo, recently announced his resignation from both roles.
Restivo has acted as president of the local California Republican Assembly since 1988. When the club received recognition as a Republican Club from the Los Angeles County Republican Party, he became its first president. A native of New York, he served as an elected Republican District Leader and as a member of the Eastchester Board of Education prior to relocating to California for work at the Avery Dennison Corporation in Pasadena in 1986.
A part-time management and organizational behavior professor at the California State University, Los Angeles, Restivo will continue teaching and providing career, life, and management coaching. He is currently working on a book that covers key elements of leadership and knowledge from his experiences as an organizational psychologist. Restivo also plans to utilize his time to promote the Kiwanis Club of La Cañada, which he’s been a member of for the past 39 years, and the St. Bede the Venerable Roman Catholic Church.
“I am passionate about writing and want to spend more of my retirement time doing what I have always wanted to do–writing, public relations, and coaching,” remarked Restivo. “All of these things take time, so the time came for me to realize that I had done what I could do in politics, enjoyed it, and I needed to move on to spending more time with my family and writing. I have another birthday on May 2 and this was a perfect time to step down and to move on to taking on new challenges.”
First Vice President Ernest Koeppen will take over as president until the Board of Directors reorganizes and selects a new group of leaders to take the club through the upcoming election cycle.
